CRISIS: Crisis Sequence Book 2 is now available on Kindle and Print!

CRISIS: Descendants Saga Crisis Sequence Book 2 is now available on Kindle and in Print editions!
This second novel in the Crisis Sequence picks up where RAGE leaves off, taking the Descendants story in a new arc!

I've had numerous requests for other Ebook formats and/or Print Editions for my novels over the past few years, but up until now I considered it not worth the considerable effort it would take to get them out there. However, I've recently had a much better experience and can now offer Matte finishes on the covers, preview the new files easier, etc... and have decided 2014 is the time to get this done.
Because of my agreement with Amazon, I still cannot publish sequels to Nook and other Ebook formats. I know many people have downloaded the free editions of series starters and want the sequels, but I just don't have the ability to do that due to contract. But, for anyone who still wants to purchase sequel novels to many of my fantasy series, these PRINT EDITIONS should solve the problem for you. Believe me when I say, I'm barely selling these above cost, in order to make them as cheap as possible for my readers. I don't make anything more on a print copy than on Kindle. Sometimes, it's even less. The Matte Covers were something I wanted for a long time and now I can make those available as well. I've got a couple and they look sweet :)
As for the Titles that will soon release in Matte Cover Print Editions?
  • All Descendants Saga Novels
  • All Crisis Sequence Novels (as they release on Kindle. Crisis is almost here!)
  • All Realm Shift Trilogy Novels
  • A Serpent Kings Ominbus: (including Serpent Kings, Wraith Dancer, Shadow Walker)
  • A Perdition's Gate: Inferno Omnibus (including Perdition's Gate and PG:Inferno)
  • A World Within
  • A Strange Tale
If I've left any out that people want then please send me an email, and I'll see about doing one for the novel you want. It's not so much trouble now, so let me know.

RAGE: Crisis Sequence One is Now FREE on Kindle and other Ebook Formats!

http://www.amazon.com/RAGE-Descendants-Saga-Crisis-Sequence-ebook/dp/B00IQP0W36/ref=sr_1_11?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1396029100&sr=1-11&keywords=james+somers

As promised, the Crisis Sequence has begun. RAGE is now live on Amazon Kindle at 230 pages with an Audio Book edition coming in the next few months. For Descendants fans, this novel picks up where VENDETTA leaves off... However, the novel is completely accessible to those who've not yet read the Descendants Saga. In fact, Descendants novels only explain one of the mysteries found in Crisis Sequence. So, call it secret knowledge only Descendants fans will have. You're ahead of the curve :)

Crisis Sequence: focuses upon Jonathan Parks who may be the cause of a viral pandemic threatening London, England and the world beyond. He has no idea how it happened, but it's happened, and now something has to be done to stop it before the infected overtake all of humanity. Foreign governments isolate themselves and seek to lay hold of this boy who may represent the only hope for a cure to this modern day plague.
Also, I have news for "Wielder Saga" fans wanting to know about a sequel to "A World Within," which has been out for several years, and is now FREE on AMAZON KINDLE as well as other e-book formats. I'm going to begin work in the next Wielder Saga Book next week. I'm not sure how long it will take to release, since I'm also working on CRISIS SEQUENCE, but this is better than not working on it at all. I anticipate being done by end of this coming Summer... just don't hold me to it. I'm usually early rather than late on my self imposed deadlines. However, if you've enjoyed "A World Within," then you might want to check out my Audio Books because I'm hoping to have an Audio Book for "A World Within" out through Audible.com very soon!

Stay tuned to this Bat-Station for upcoming releases and news!

One Realm Beyond

I recieved a free copy of this novel to review and had high hopes, but half way through I realized that I just wasn't getting into this story. Admittedly, this story is written for a young audience and I have no doubt that young readers, particularly those who enjoy charming dragons, would like this book. However, having said that, I love young adult fiction and books for young readers. Novels that have drawn me into the story by the first pages or first chapters and had me totally captivated and wanting more. One Realm Beyond is just not one of those books. Other reviews have mentioned not being able to get into this story until about half way through. I would have to say that, at the half way point, I'm still not there yet.
Now, don't get me wrong, Donita K Paul is a wonder with her prose. It's the story that isn't doing it for me. I've found nothing worth caring about on Cantor's quest. In fact, Cantor has been a major problem for me. I don't like this guy. He's whiny. I like Bridger much better...an endearing dragon, even if he is a bit of an oaf. He's charming in my opinion. I'd much rather have had him in a story as the main character than Cantor. At half way through the book, after Bridger has more than proven his worth (IMHO) and his faithfulness (especially given the kind of treatment he's recieved in return) Cantor's is still this incessantly ungrateful whiner.
I had to give up because I so disliked the hero in this novel. I know he's going to grow into it and all...believe me I know...but if I can't enjoy reading about him by the halfway point then I'm not going to continue reading his story.
May I give a humble example? Artemis Fowl is a boy genius and a super criminal. He's not the hero we want him to be at the beginning or even by the next few novels, but he's very interesting to read about. And you can see a process, and he's so interesting as an antihero that you enjoy reading through the process. And there's a whole lot happening along the way that's thrilling to read. I found none of these characteristics in our hero: Cantor. I found nothing very thrilling to keep me plodding along. I like Bridger...give him a novel without Cantor. He's charming, endearing. Everything I'm sure Donita intended. But Cantor?...Not feeling it.

By the way I've read other stuff by Donita and enjoyed the experience, which was why I wanted to review this new series starter. Unfortunately, this one just isn't my cup of tea. :(

VENDETTA RELEASED as FREE E-BOOK

The final Descendants Saga Novel: VENDETTA has been finished and released as a FREE E-BOOK through Smashwords and Amazon Kindle. The Amazon Kindle version should soon take on the free price, but can be downloaded in all ebook formats (including Kindle) at SMASHWORDS.

VENDETTA is a little shorter  than the other Descendant Novels (which is why I'm giving it away for FREE), but the story is there and finishes off the series as I had hoped...Also VENDETTA serves as the Prologue for my next series spinning off from Descendants to create: CRISIS SEQUENCE. I've included the Crossover Cover Here for your enjoyment, so that fans will know what to look for when the next series begins.

This new series will take up where Descendants Saga leaves off...A new cast of characters will be introduced, leaving most of our old cast behind. Nevertheless, the new cast will be front and center in this new Apocalyptic Series.

The CRISIS SEQUENCE will start up with the first novel: RAGE: CRISIS SEQUENCE BOOK ONE. I'll share the first cover and a brief synopsis here. I hope the fans of Descendants will join me for this new series. It promises to be a fun new ride!

Jonathan Parks never expected to witness the end of the world. He never expected to be the cause of it.

"Who is Jonathan Parks? You'll have to read VENDETTA to find out!"

VENDETTA to become FREE CROSSOVER NOVEL!

Hello all and Happy New Year!

There is alot coming in 2014, primarily a NEW SERIES entitled: CRISIS SEQUENCE which will have its roots in the Descendants Saga, but will also incorporate an entirely new cast of characters. In fact this series will be quite different from Descendants, a bit more grounded in what's happening in the human world so to speak. And because my current 7th Descendants Novel will spend so much time finishing off with our former cast of characters and bridging the gap for this new series, I've decided to also RELEASE the NEW NOVEL for FREE in the next month or so.

VENDETTA will arrive free at Smashwords first (about a month from now) and usually filters through the system to become free on Amazon Kindle and Nook and all other Ebook platforms shortly thereafter.

I've also created an alternate VENDETTA COVER that better reflects the Crossover Nature of this novel that will hopefully grab reader's attention -- not to mention the FREE pricetag involved! I think that the style of the new covers should also give a hint about the direction the story might take :)

TAG LINE
Jonathan Parks never expected to witness the end of the world. He never expected to be the cause of it.

The principle character for Crisis Sequence will be Jonathan Parks. For more about who this actually is, you'll have to read VENDETTA when it arrives and put two and two together. Jonathan will, however, not make his debut until the first official Crisis Sequence Novel: RAGE, which will hopefully arrive by the Summer of 2014. Tentative titles for the Crisis Sequence Novels include: RAGE - CRISIS - MAYHEM - HAVOC. So, lots happening this year and I hope you'll stay onboard for the fun. Rest assured, if you've enjoyed the Descendants Saga so far, you should also enjoy this new series.
